US uber-promoter Pasquale Rotella unveiled details of Insomniac’s 2nd music conference EDMbiz this week, and promised the summit will ‘facilitate relevant discussions on topics including ‘sustaining community, humanity & credibility during a period of massive growth’.
Confirming the conference will take place at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas in the same week as Electric Daisy Carnival, Pasquale was bullish about the impact of EDMbiz’s previous event.
“In our 1st year, EDMbiz united key tastemakers & business leaders in the – dance music community in an intimate setting at a critical point in time,” he said in a press release announcing the event.

Details of the dance music summit were published just a week after rival EDM conference IMS unveiled their first raft of speakers for their May event which, as well as including 70s rock obsessive blogger Bob Lefsetz and The Wire gangsta Stringer Bell, features a panel debate asking ‘Is the American style of doing Business Killing the Heart of Dance Music?’
“A powerful collection of speakers in a powerful year- a defining year, in fact,” IMS chief Ben Turner declared in the conference’s accompanying press release.
“IMS has been criticised for being ‘too positive’ before – something I won’t ever apologise for!” he added, “IMS keeps it real, but celebrates positivity and longevity.”
IMS takes places between 22nd – 24th May in Ibiza.
