Subliminal records star Erick Morillo has blamed his ‘very addictive personality’ and a messy divorce for causing him to suddenly take a break recently from DJing, in an unusually candid interview with SouthWestFour.com.
Describing falling into a ‘really dark place emotionally’, he admitted ‘losing control of the partying’ for a while adding, ‘I realise now that my answer is to be sober’.
“I also want to get to know Erick Morillo outside of music,” the Reel 2 Real star continued, “I don’t really know who I am, I don’t really know what I like and I want to do that.”
His comments emerged several weeks after he was escorted off the decks by security at a US gig, prompting him to issue a more guarded statement announcing his enforced sabbatical.
“There comes a time when the body just can’t keep up with the hectic schedule and sleepless nights. Having pushed my body to the limits for many years, the time has come to take a break and refocus my attention on my health and well-being,” he wrote on Facebook.
“I plan on returning stronger then ever to my passion of playing music and seeing you dancing on my dance floor. Until then, I like to thank all my fans for your enduring love and support! Hope to see you soon. Erick Morillo”. (https://www.facebook.com/ErickMorilloOfficial )
