Billionaire Banker Brands Poor People ‘Nazis’
Obscenely wealthy venture capitalist Thomas Perkins warned that ‘a rising tide of hatred’ amongst ordinary people towards his fellow filthy rich financiers could soon lead to a repeat of Hitler’s Kristallnacht, in a letter published by the Wall Street Journal.
“Writing from the epicenter of progressive thought, San Francisco, I would call attention to the parallels of fascist Nazi Germany to its war on its “one percent,” namely its Jews, to the progressive war on the American one percent, namely the “rich”.” the founder of venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caulfield & Byers declared.
Complaining about regular people being annoyed about ‘techno geeks’ forcing up property prices in downtown San Francisco so much that only the rich can afford to live he also raged against the media’s ‘demonization of the rich’.
“This is a very dangerous drift in our American thinking,” he added, “Kristallnacht was unthinkable in 1930; is its descendent “progressive” radicalism unthinkable now?”
Chatting to the Wall Street Journal some years earlier about his purchase of a hugely expensive massive penthouse on the top of a skyscraper in San Francisco, he replied “I’m called the king of Silicon Valley, why can’t I have a penthouse?’
He also built a $150million super yacht called the Maltese Falcon in 2004 and was similarly blunt at the time admitting ‘he could have spent that fortune on charity but wanted the world’s biggest boat’. (Mercury News: http://bit.ly/1fjaC4U )
Luxury yacht designer Ken Freivokh worked on the Maltese Falcon and coincidentally revealed to the Guardian this week that though ‘boat builders can now design almost anything that the mega-rich can imagine . . . most just want room for a giant TV’.
“The tricky ones are clients that come and say, ‘I want a big boat with a big saloon and a very big TV’, and they’re almost not interested in the rest,” Mr Freivokh revealed.
Perkins subsequently sold the Maltese Falcon to hedge fund billionaire Elena Ambrosiadou in 2009.
