DJ Meme- Tracks of my Time (interview)
Skrufff introduces a new Q&A series asking a bunch of our favourite DJs and friends what their favourite, not so favourite and life-defining tracks are. This week, Def Mix’s Brasilian legend DJ Meme shares his selection.
Skrufff: The track you’ve finished a set with the most often?
DJ Meme: “Soul Central – The Strings of Life (Mark Knight Mix). Unbeatable.”
Skrufff: The track you cleared the floor with (what happened when?)
DJ Meme: “DJing is about the vibe you create with your music sequence, so If you don’t respect that specific mood and sequence, even the hit of the moment played at the wrong time may clear the floor. It’s not that simple.”
Skrufff: The track you rescued a dance-floor with?
DJ Meme: “A bootleg I have of “Disclosure – Latch”. It starts with the keys and acappella, so If you screwed for some reason, everything goes back to the right place.”
Skrufff: The cheesiest/ guiltiest secret track you love?
DJ Meme: “A remix of TWISTED NERVE – MAIN THEME, It’s the Kill Bill whistle track. I love that. I would play it in every gig.”
Skrufff: The track that you loved that everyone hated?
DJ Meme: “Emanuelle – Capture. It’s a french sung track, and It’s pure Disco, but even the Disco-House lovers don’t get it. I gave up.”
Skrufff: The track that everyone else loved that you hated?
DJ Meme: “Lykke Li – I Follow Rivers. I leave the room immediately when I hear that.”
Skrufff: Anything you’d like plugging?
DJ Meme: “ Keep an eye on the new label DEF MIX records for the upcoming release of “24HS”, my new track with David Morales…and don’t miss our famous DEF MIX party on march 22nd in Miami at the WMC.”
