Vegas Afterhours Club Bans EDM & Laptop DJs
New Las Vegas nightclub AFTER opened this week and published an extensive set of rules banning DJs from playing any music by Deadmau5, Tiesto, Hardwell and David Guetta as well as insisting they refrain from mixing off laptops.
“Do not play a pre-mixed set on 1 channel on Ableton (lazy ass), do not mix internally on Serato,” AFTER demanded, “And do not play on Traktor without the use of external controllers.”
The club warned that any DJs breaking the rules will be ‘immediately escorted out of the DJ booth’ and won’t get paid and signed off with the hashtag #proper Afterhours.
Despite their uber-strict ‘no EDM’ rules, club offers bookable VIP bottle service via their website, as well as in house DJs including Ultra Music act Black Boots (best known currently for tracks such as Sex Cult a ‘high energy singalong anthem for all you creatures of the night’.
There’s no room still however, for Swedish House Mafia ‘and all remaining pieces of them’ despite Steve Angello’s recent reinvention of himself as a ‘moody’ Daft Punk style experimental artist.
Chatting to the Daily Star this week, Angello blasted his erstwhile EDM rivals for ‘all sounding the same’ and vowed his new solo material will be markedly different from SHM.
“This album is not one of those five pop stars and me releases,” he scoffed. “I’ve gone a little indie with this album. It’s very minimal in production.” (Daily Star)
