Loco Dice Leaves Ibiza
Ibiza’s highest profile techno star Loco Dice has revealed that he’ll be playing just one gig on the Balearic island this summer, via a cryptic statement posted on Twitter and Facebook.
“I’d like to announce that after 15 amazing years with Ibiza as my summer base, and an amazing USED + ABUSEDseason, it’s time to put in work on a few special projects (new music!!!),” the A Life supremo declared, “And (to) get inspired from new places and new experiences along the way,” he added.
Though he failed to mention exactly where he’ll be spending his summer he presumably means both Berlin (where his uber-successful label A-Life relocated late last year) and America, where the San Francisco Weekly became the latest high profile US newspaper this week to publish a report predicting that Berlin-style techno is about the explode in the US.
“Everyone is talking about techno,” San Francisco Weekly reporter Derek Opperman declare in a piece hailing Rolling Stone Magazine’s recent ’surprisingly well-researched article’ on Berghain (‘The Secretive, Sex-Fueled World of Techno’s Coolest Club’ )
“Lady Gaga collaborated with Berghain for a record release party (and) Deadmau5 is now putting out records on Richie Hawtin’s Plus 8 label under the alias “testpilot“,” he continued, “And all your friends who were previously making UK bass and deep house are currently doing their best to approximate “Berghain techno.”
Loco Dice’s solo date in Ibiza is on August 10th at Space Ibiza. He also performs at Pasquale Rotella’s Electric Daisy Carnival New York over the weekend of May 24/ 25.
