British Airways Goes Raving Mad
UK national airline British Airways unveiled a list of 40 holiday trips people should experience before they are 40 this week, and singled out nine nightlife/ rave events as key locations people should explore.
Urging under040s to ‘party on the piste’ at the ‘Snowbombing Festival’ in Mayrhofen, Austria and to ‘enjoy a rooftop cocktail at Bar 360 in Dubai’ (the only club Skrufff chief Jonty Skrufff has ever been kicked off the deck from- for playing ‘London warehouse music’) BA also singled out Ibiza in two recommendations.
“Cheer as an aircraft flies over you at Bora Bora beach, Ibiza,” they advised and (in top place) “make a friend for life at one of Ibiza’s legendary clubs – Pacha, Space, DC10…”
The guide also advised travellers to ‘hit the beach for a ‘full moon party’ in Koh Phangan, Thailand and to ‘cut loose at the Burning Man festival in Nevada’ as well as an impossible to pull off tip for visitors to Berlin.
“Wear something risqué to the Berlin Love Parade”, they urged, apparently unaware that the last Love Parade took place in 2006 in Berlin before moving to Duisberg, where 21 people were crushed to death in 2010 forcing its permanent cancellation. https://www.facebook.com/britishairways
The raving focused list appeared just as the Observer published a report on the explosive growth of Brits taking Club 18-30-style festival getaway’ package tours to European music festivals for the same cost as attending British events such as Glastonbury or Reading.
“The industry is very healthy, and package trips are more popular than ever,” Barri Coen, head of marketing at Festicket told the newspaper.
“The trend is towards smaller, boutique festivals, and people are increasingly tieing them in with their summer holiday plans,” he added. (Observer; http://bit.ly/1rssUWq )
