Barefoot Doctor- on Political Correctness & Jayne County’s ‘Tranny’ Ban
Punk rock transsexual icon Jayne County last week accused politically correct trans activists of fascism, after Facebook suspended her account for 24 hours this week when someone complained about her using the terms ‘tranny’ and ‘shemale’ in a post.
Skrufff asked Barefoot Doctor his views on the controversy and the dangers of censorship and outlawing words- where is the best place to draw the line?
Barefoot Doctor: It’s important – crucial – we learn to respect each other. That’s what needs to be taught to young children in schools and to everyone else who doesn’t know how to do it, through every means possible. When we respect each other we don’t need externally imposed rules.
When we attend to the symptom but ignore the underlying cause, the cause just goes more underground and morphs into something worse.
I was recently stopped in my tracks and not a little shocked overhearing some well-healed, apparently intelligent, educated, people proposing being gay was a mental disorder. Unfortunately the spread of this sort of potentially dangerous reactionary misperception is inevitable whenever the more ignorant socially inflammatory monkey-like human behavioral extremes are suppressed from the outside for long enough without the issue of mutual respect being addressed at root level.
Educate people not to be afraid of other people who happen to live differently and to see them as fellow members of the human family regardless, teach them to honor and respect them as such and the evidently already dangerous effects of political-correctness born self-suppression can be avoided.
So yes, I’m right with Jayne County and empathize fully with her feeling passionate about it.”
