Armageddon River of Blood Returns
Residents in Wenzhou, East China’s Zhejiang Province reportedly began preparing for apocalypse this week, after a 350 stretch of the river turned blood red overnight, despite no factories or industrial waste dumps being nearby.
China’s Yangtze River previously turned red in 2012, prompting the Daily Mail to (prematurely as it turned out) sound the End is Nigh alarm
“According to chapter 16, verse 4 of the Bible’s book of Revelations, one of the signs that Armageddon is near will be an angel pouring a bowl into the rivers, turning them into blood,” the Mail noted.
“It is the last thing the residents of Chongqing would have expected to see.” (Mail )
The latest river turning red incident occurred just hours before Dr Margaret Chan, Director-General of the World Health Organization issued a blood-curdling warning of the catastrophic threat posed by the latest Ebola outbreak, which she said could soon slip out of control.
“West Africa’s outbreak is caused by the most lethal strain in the family of Ebola viruses,” she said in a speech delivered to the Presidents of Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone.
“It is taking place in areas with fluid population movements over porous borders, and it has demonstrated its ability to spread via air travel, contrary to what has been seen in past outbreaks,”
“This outbreak is moving faster than our efforts to control it. If the situation continues to deteriorate, the consequences can be catastrophic in terms of lost lives but also severe socioeconomic disruption and a high risk of spread to other countries.” (World Health Organisation)
