US Mom Bashes Breaking Bad Dolls
Family values crusader Susan Myers has launched an online petition protesting about Toys R Us’s decision to stock highly collectible figurines of Breaking Bad stars Walter White and Jesse Pinkman.
The Fort Myers housewife claimed the scarily lifelike counter-culture icons could set a bad example for impressionable children, particularly when sold alongside Barbie dolls and Disney characters.
“Their decision to sell a Breaking Bad doll, complete with a detachable sack of cash and a bag of meth, alongside children’s toys is a dangerous deviation from their family friendly values,” Mrs Myers complained.
“Parents and grandparents around the world shop at Toys R Us, online and in stories, with their children and should not be forced to explain why a certain toy comes with a bag of highly dangerous and illegal drugs or why someone who sells those drugs deserves to be made into an action figure,” she suggested )
Walter White (aka Bryan Cranston) was characteristically unimpressed.
“Florida mom petitions against Toys ‘R Us over Breaking Bad action figures.” I’m so mad, I’m burning my Florida Mom action figure in protest,” he snarled via Twitter, adding a follow up post after the petition went viral and the toy retailer capitulated.
“Toys R Us puts Breaking Bad toys on ‘indefinite sabbatical.’ Word on the street is that they were sent to Belize,” said White, “Nicely played Florida Mom.”
