Def Jam hip hop supremo turned consciousness raising entrepreneur Russell Simmons has published an open letter castigating his ‘old friend’ Donald Trump in which he says the Presidential contender is ‘becoming a major embarrassment’ (and) a one-man wrecking ball willing to destroy our nation’s foundation of freedom’.
“My friends, both Muslims and Jews, are saying there are so many comparisons between your rap and Hitler’s, and I cannot disagree with them, Donald,” he writes.
“Stop the bullshit. Stop fueling fires of hate. Don’t feed into the rhetoric created by small-minded people.”
His accusation appeared as London based economist Umair Haque branded Donald Trump a demagogue, in an illuminating article examining ‘why fascism is rising again’.
Putting the blame squarely on the ‘extremist right wing economic ideology’ of the last 35 years and its role in enabling elites to consolidate their wealth as everyone else suffered, he suggested ‘’fascism is always a product of inopportunity.”
“Inopportunity creates a burning sense of injustice,” he continued.
