Skrufff-E Supporter Comments:

“Skrufff covers the three things I’m most interested in. Music, Clubbing and Human Rights. An excellent mix.”

Chris Lowe, the Pet Shop Boys, UK

—–

“I really enjoy getting the e-zines every week, Jonty, I like your style.

Ed Simons, The Chemical Brothers, London

—–

“If I read one thing every week about our industry and more, it’s Skrufff ”

Danny Whittle, Director, Pacha Ibiza.

—–

“I always enjoy receiving Skrufff and it always raises at least one titter, a raised eyebrow and possibly a gasp. I’m a confirmed fan.”

Tim Sheridan, Very Very Very Wrong Indeed.

—–

“I frantically read the excellent Skrufff every week, desperately hoping to see my name in it again.” (James Mowbray, Managing Editor Mixmag/ DJ)

—–

“Sometimes even we feel the need to know what’s currently shaking hips and heads. That’s when we turn to Skrufff, and we are never disappointed.” (Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth, Tom Tom Club/ Talking Heads)

—–

“Finally, a weekly email me and my friends WANT to read- I read the whole thing and then talk about it with my friends all weekend. And although I never have met him, after reading his e-zine each Friday, I have hot monkey sex dreams all weekend about Jonty.”

Daniel Nardicio, D-List Productions, New York.

—–

“Skrufff is an addictive e-zine, a window to the wider clubbing world. It’s the only weekly mailout I always read from start to finish, an essential feed of information and entertainment always served up with knowledge, irreverence and wit.”

Mark Kavanagh, Assistant Editor Irish Daily Star, Eire

—–

After subscribing to Skrufff.com I finally ditched all the paperprint dj magazines offering just features on the ibiza big names – like we don’t know all about it. Skrufff.com keeps me up-to-date with music while at the same times warns me that I shouldn’t risk the death-penalty while making porn movies in Iran. A must read for all clubbers.

Gregor Zavcer, Supreme Absinthe producer/ party promoter, Ljubjlana, Slovenia

—–

“Skrufff is an essential read that highlights topical and interesting stories in the global music scene”

Nikki Wright / Global Publicity, UK

—–

“With so much information online today and just not enough time to read it the Skrufff news captures all the best juicy entertainment bits that are always entertaining and is always given the little time that I have.”

Nick Willsher, Managing Director, Entertaining Asia Ltd, Hong Kong, China

—–

“Skrufff-E is a counter culture classic of our times – if you wanna’ hear about what’s really going on out there and on the street, its a constant source of interest and an escape from mainstream media spin and

hype.”

Nick Ladd, Glade Festival organiser, UK.

—–

Skruff keeps us up to date on the goings on in the crazy world of clubbing and beyond!  It also makes for some bloody good reading

Karim Miknas, Promoter/ DJ/ club owner, Likwid, Bahrain

—–

“Skrufff e-zine is THE BEST music related media I read. Free of bully advertisers storry and fake hypes. And written by somebody who could actually write and not pigenholed to one music style, giving respect through interviews to the techno/house/electro music legends and new rising stars.

DJ Sergej (label chief Home Made Electronica/ promoter, Club Porat), Croatia

—–

I can tell you that Yoko was very impressed with your work, and what you are doing. Keep up the good work. We both agree that you are on to something special.

Yoko Ono’s PA Robin Mervin, US (March 2003)

—–

SKRUFFF! The ONE & ONLY electro bitchy newsletter on da’ world – full support !!! J

Level 75 Team, Level 75, Paris, France

—–

Since I quit purchasing print magazines, Skrufff is my weekly lecture on what´s goin on with Rock´n Rollectro lifestyle with a special kind of humor and not taking all this rubbish too serious. Keep it up!

Bomb Boutique – bombboutique.org Berlin

—–

Nevermind the Syndicate…….. Here’s Jonty Skrufff in ya Soundsystem…….. And he’s kickin’ it!Mucho Respecto.”

Louis Osbourne, DJ/ producer, Eire

—–

“I think the e-zine is a brilliant idea and well worth the effort it must take to put it together. It’s good to read stories about the ’scene’ (for want of a better word) and related topics without feeling as if you’re being ‘promoted at’ necessarily – or at least not in a ham-fisted horrible way.

Nick Muir, producer/ DJ, UK

—–

“Even when dance music is not THE big thing now, skrufff still is. You do not even have to like the scene (any more) because skrufff is so much more than just what a DJ did last night”

Jana, Komankova, editor-in chief, report mag (www.ireport.cz) and DJ of Prague’s Radio 1, Czech Republic

—–

I like the non-judgmental, factual style of the writing – I often feel I’m being left to make my own decisions about a particular event or story that you cover, this is quite rare in modern journalism where people too often try use their position to push a view or worse a newspaper or government “line”.

Robin Smith Jazyk, v.o.s. Radio presenter/ DJ, Czech Republic

—–

Skrufff is the most consistently entertaining guide to dance music out there, giving real stories from club land as opposed to the PR-led world of Mixmag et al. I look forward to it every week!

Kid Blue (Chew The Fat/Technique)

—-

“ I always look forward to Skruff.com arriving in my inbox. Underground news from below the radar.”

Ashley Beedle (X Press 2), London, UK

—–

“I always look forward to getting stuck into the latest Skrufff with a cup of coffee and two cigarettes. They always brighten up my otherwise gloomy inbox.”

Danny Howells, UK

—–

“Even though Jonty told us off, we still keep “Skrufff-E” out of the spam box!

Schatrax, US)

—–

“Jonty Skrufff’s newsletter is a weekly must have for any purveyor of electronic dance music. There’s gossip, gossip, and more gossip, and I love it. I’m an avid reader, checking the updates every Friday when they come through. I’ve also had the pleasure of being grilled by Jonty on a few occasions, he’s a legend!”

Gareth Wynn, UK

—–

Much like my local gym (when I’m feeling virtuous) or the local pub (when I’m not) Skrufff has become a part of my weekly ritual. Pleasingly, unlike those two places it’s available wherever I am in the world. Which can be anywhere. Genuinely interesting reading about all sorts of gubbins.”

Paolo Mojo, UK

—–

“I am a Spanish-based (Catalunya)UK promoter, impresario and DJ/Remixer working with major dance labels in Spain, London, Holland the USA.  So I am keen to keep track on the vibrant, frothy matters of interest on the global underground dance scene.  Been reading this update for many years… Probably around 5… its upbeat, informative and most of all humourous, especially the weather report!”

Mark James (Pacha Sitges)

—–

“Electronic news about drugs, deviants, political devils and oh yeah synth music. What’s not to like!” – The Horrorist

Oliver Chesler (The Horrorist), Berlin

—–

Cutting edge news that fits my entertainer lifestyle, from DJs getting arrested to parties getting busted, to full on wild Ibiza nightlife, Jonty finds it, writes it and drops it straight to my inbox. Awesome reporting, awesome news. inspiring and entertaining.

Jorge Jaramillo, US

—–

“Jonty’s taste is impeccable, in fact, I am always asking him to send me new tracks from his playlists.”

-Princess Superstar

—–

I’ve been reading Skrufff for longer than my fading memory can recall. It has become one of my staple sources of music and club news because it has proven to be reliable and balanced. It dares to tackle both international and domestic stories, politics, humour, and reviews with a refreshing enthusiasm. Thank Jonty it’s Friday!

Jim Warboy, All You Can Eat, London, UK

—–

Skruff is the sure fire way of finding out everything you need to know and a shit load of interesting stuff you didn’t on a weekly basis.  Unlivable without!

Guy Hatfield (aka DJ Hyper), UK

—–

Skrufff is an invaluable tool for livening up the content of your music website, picking up some of the more entertaining and esoteric  happenings in our crazy world…

DJ Voodoobass) aka Sami Ayubi @ LOVE, Hamburg

—–

You know I got crazy love for you and your ezine and you know I’ve always found Skrufff to be hightly amusing informative and reverential. A one stop shop where I get all my drugs, music, club news but most of all I love the silly stories involving the police.

Artash Doult, DJ Agent, MN2S, UK

—–

Skrufff is the most on-the-button online culture-focused publication I know – well-rounded, speaking for the worldwide underground, yet all totally above board and pro – one of the best things on the net.”

Barefoot Doctor, UK/ Spain

—–

“Always an enjoyable read on a Monday morning, giving the latest flavours for leftfield, sybaritic tastes”

Stephen Jenkins

International Marketing Manager, Wall Of Sound

The Skrufff articles I find most interesting are the ones that give me insight into clubbing (and around clubbing – laws, media attitude, business aspect) in different places. Clubbing culture, you could say – especially in some exotic locations. I mean, you can find info and gossip about music, producers, DJs easily, but this sort of info (which I believe often comes from first hand experience) is what I want to know. Sometimes it breaks some prejudice I had, or changes my view on certain cities/clubs/performers that was based on hear-say, without really bothering to check.

I don’t buy any music magazines, never watch MTV or any other music channel, they make me feel like living in an Orwellian nightmare (which is not too far from the truth). But when I read an article that exposes that, or ignores it to make an independent statement – I feel safer and stronger, because I know I have allies. Basically the whole Zarkoff work is pretty much about fighting the system in a very subtle way, and this is what the counter – culture is all about. The real social change can only come from the inside, from people changing their minds, and this is our big work – making them drop their illusions.

This is what I search for in Skrufff, and I find it in many article

The world has never been so small and connected. Cows farting in England are melting glaciers in Greenland. What happens in nightclubs in Europe directly effects what happens in nightclubs in New York. I’ve been a DJ working in New York clubs since 1980. I’ve seen many trends come and go. New York has traditionally been the leader in these trends but as anyone who has been here in the last few years knows, the shine is definitely off “The Big Apple”. We now follow the leaders. My weekly dose of Jonty Skrufff keeps me informed in a way that nothing else does.

That famous fall down the elevator shaft at Danceteria (which I remember well because I was a DJ there at the time) didn’t kill little Jonty and I think it may have created him. I think that as he was lying there in that elevator shaft an angel came to him and said, “No Mr. Skrufff, it’s not your time yet. You have important work to do. God wants you to do a weekly newsletter on the internet (which hasn’t been invented yet) that will enlighten club goers around the world. Your newsletter shall be a beacon of truth to DJs, trendsetters and drug addicts around the globe. God speed Jonty Skrufff. Now get the hell out of this elevator shaft”!

Jonty Skrufff does God’s work.

Skrufff provides a unique blend of serious and humorous news and views from the international dance music scene along with social comment and comical stories from all around the world. I’d been informed and entertained by the weekly Skrufff Ezine for many years before they finally agreed to syndicate their content to HarderFaster. Since then we regularly see Skrufff items being discussed in our forums which is a testament to how interesting and relevant Skrufff content is to our members.

Matt, Managing Director, HarderFaster.net

Skrufff news has given trackitdown.net a wealth of content each and every week with real journalism to keep our visitors engaged and informed. We regularly receive compliments on the news section and that’s all thanks to Jonty and the Skruff team. You could fill your news section with press release after press release but it won’t compete with Skrufff!

Nolan Shadbolt. Managing Director, Trackitdown.net, UK

“There was once a very famous and popular BBC/NBC Radio show spanning 4 decades called Letters From America presented in excellent journalistic style by Alistair Cooke who sat with world statesmen from Presidents to Kings and gave their views to Cooke on the real issues of the times. Skruff News is the digital era’s “Letters From The World” penned by an enthusiastic, intelligent, humanitarian called Jonty Skrufff the writer, DJ and music head from the UK. We are proud to be associated with all that Skruff news represents in open journalism.”
