Berlin to Become Europe’s New Cannabis Capital?
Authorities in Berlin unveiled plans to allow cannabis users to possess up to 15 grams for personal use this week, three times the quantity allowed for smokers in Amsterdam.
Der Spiegel said the new rules are set to supplant already in place personal allowances of 10 grams and reports that the new law will make Berlin ‘one of Europe’s most marijuana friendly cities.”
The German authorities’ unusually tolerant approach contrasts markedly with the tactics still used by US cops according to ex Narc Barry Cooper, who this week chatted to the Texas Observer about his experiences working for a Texas drug squad in the 90s.
“I never planted drugs, but I often threatened to, in order to scare citizens into becoming an informant,” he admitted, adding that he regularly tricked suspects into attempting to escape so he could fight them (‘that would get my adrenaline fix.’).
Mr Cooper gained notoriety in 2007 when he released his best selling DVD series ‘Never Get Busted Again’ which he continues to sell on his website alongside several free tips such as avoiding buying cigarette papers from small convenience stores because clerks often snitch on customers.
“It’s much safer to purchase rolling papers and blunt wraps at large grocery stores where cashiers are too busy to tip off the police,” he advises, “Tell your friends about this tip . . . it’s worth repeating.”
