Cardiff Clubbers Face Fingerprinting Threat
Welsh police have confirmed they’re considering making finger-printing of clubbers compulsory, after three nightspots in Cardiff introduced scanner systems.
Club licensing cop Sergeant Scott Lloyd said nightclubs in London and Dorset are already using the new technology and confirmed that local clubs may soon have to install fingerprint checks as a condition of obtaining a license.
“These systems can contribute to reducing and detecting crime,” Sergeant Lloyd told Wales Online, “For example, changing the mindset of potential troublemakers entering a venue,” he suggested (WalesOnline: http://bit.ly/rXsYb7 )

The devices are made by thriving ID card company ID Scan, who brand them their ‘flagship devices’ on a tailor-made website recently launched http://nightclub.co.uk.
The company also boasts that clubbers’ identities and activities can be further monitored with finger-prints matched with revellers’ Facebook profiles.
“Add Facebook, Twitter, mobile and email details to your customer accounts,” they suggest, “SCANNET know who visited for the first time last night, who has a birthday next week and who are your top 500 customers.”
